On October 6 and 7 I attended the Twin Tiers Comic Con in Elmira, New York and visited my good friend and comic artist Matt Flint and his wife Jessica.

I purchased a weekend V.I.P package which included a branded tote bag that was big enough to handle most of the swag you would expect to acquire. The bag was also stuffed with some freebies. Included was a comic take on popular Netfllix series Stranger Things and had contributions from featured artists such as Matt Flint (Demogorgon), Joey Schichtel (Joyce Byers), Brandon Whipple (Will Byers), Chris Bell (Eleven), Geoff Munn (Mike), Joe Holley (Lucas), Chelsea Bruno (Dustin), Emily Swan (Barb) and Maegan Cook (Hopper).

The only panel I attended was the Sketchoff. The purpose of this panel was to test the skills of the selected panelist. They fielded suggestions from the audience, chose an idea and set out to create a piece in record time. While I didn’t capture any footage from this panel unfortunately, I did manage to pick up this piece from artist Geoff Munn afterwards as everyone in attendance was allowed to choose a drawing to take home.

Here are some of the prints I picked up over the weekend.

Inside Out by Joey Schichtel

All in all it was a small and intimate affair, which made it much more digestible to a new comer such as myself. This allowed for more interaction with both the exhibits and the artists alike. I had a great time and I’m already looking forward to next year. Thanks to Page One Entertainment and all the sponsors and vendors for putting on the event. Until next time…
